ATKINSON, COOKE, GIBSON, GIFFEN, MERCER, PRIESTLY,FORSTER (FOSTER?), HOPE, MAGEE,CLARKE, JOHNSON,......that's a start.
ATKINSON family originally from Northumberland, arriving in Ulster with Cromwell 1649.
ATKINSON: John: BD 06-12-1752 Robert -deceased 01-11-1806 (linen draper) Capt. Crowhill Yeomanry 1797...12 Knockbreda Drive also 32 Downshire Road - 1938. John Henry -deceased 08-02-1938 of 18 London Street, Belfast, a sample maker in the linen industry. Dr. Charles - married FORSTER, Eleanor Louise Robinson (thrown out of family when she married Charles), came from a Dublin rib making and printing family. Medical certificate from Glasgow Univ. date 21-12-1858 on it, which may indicate that Charles was born between 1823-1838. One son, John Henry, born at Toomebridge, Co. Antrim. Joseph - BD 1760-1836 (linen). Married Sarah HOPE (HOOPE?) 08-01-1819. Dr. Edward 1756, married Mary....?, children-Anne, Mary Rosanna, Eliza, James, Robert, Charles, Jerimina, Sarah, Jas, Carleton (?-1729) and Edward (1756 -?) Judith Charlotte (21-08-1821 - ?) Joseph - 1844 William married Agnes Henderson, had son Francis who married (Eliza)daughter of H.L. VON SLEIGHTLITY and they had a son William Henry, born 1804. One daughter married a man from Germany STOPPELNOZE. John - 1896 - 1938, 19 London Street, Ravenhill Rd. Belfast. He was a sample maker & one of Charles five sons, all "rather wild"- Bob (Robert), John Henry, William, Arthur, Charles. 19 London Street-1896-1899 - Addeleish village. I feel thoroughly confused so please excuse this jumble of names and dates.......hope some of them are accurate and make sense. helen0@home.com
