Irish ancestors
Looking for the family background of William Purcell and Kate (Katreen Shaw), married (or eloped) prob. in Dublin, c. 1860/1861. They emigrated to Canada the following year.
William Purcell (catholic) prob. came from Co Carlow or Lois; born c. 1814; served in the British army from 1834 to 1856 (including many years in India).
Kate Shaw (protestant), still under age (born c. 1842), said to be from a well-to-do family, reportedly married the much older Purcell against her parents'will.
Any help, hint or clue would be greatly appreciated.
