I am looking for the background of my great grandfather, Thomas Cummins. He was born in 1853 in Omagh, Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He left in 1870 and landed in Virginia and eventually lived in Kentucky. His brother also came to America but I don't know his name. One clue is he had a son, Andrew, whose middle name was Hemphill. Perhaps this was Thomas's mother's maiden name. Somehow, I have a feeling his father's name was also Andrew but my mother said she didn't know. Please help. As an American I haven't been able to research this family in Ireland.
I would be happy to hear from any Cumminses living in Tyrone today.
