I am searching for any information on the birth parents of
my father, JOHN HOWARD MOUTRAY, who was adopted at age 6
but who died almost 4 years ago. The name on his birth
certificate is JOHN PEARSON. He was born on August 23rd,
1919, at 16 St. Lucia Rd., U. D. He was placed in an
orphanage called S. Denys Home in Warminster, Wilts., Eng.
On his birth certificate, his birth father's name is "HENRY
SMITH" (a Corporal in the RAF and a farmer) and his birth
mother's name is "OLIVE LOIS SARA SMITH formerly PEARSON."
Her address was listed as 3 Empress Road. John was adopted
on Sept. 24th, 1925 by FREDERICK CHARLES MOUTRAY and
KATHLEEN BRIDGET MOUTRAY (nee DIXON). The Moutrays were
well-known in Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland, of Favor Royal,
and the Dixon family was from Fahan, Co. Donegal, Ireland.
Possibly someone in the STOCKDALE family might be able to
shed some light on my father's birth heritage. I will
respect your privacy, and simply want to know who I look
like, and if my father had any siblings. If you knew of
John's birth, please know that he was a wonderful artist,
war hero (DFC, DFM), husband, father, and friend who was
loved by everyone. The world was a better place with him
in it. (He has 4 children,4 grandchildren and 2 great-
grandchildren.) Thank you for any help you might wish to
