Looking for my Irish roots and need any information on the HERRING family. All I know is that several (4-6) HERRING brothers came to the US some time before 1780, one went west, one went south, one went north and one went east. My gggg gradfather, John Herring, was born in 1784 in the US. I've heard rumors that possible the Irish name might have been O'HERRIN or some variant of that name. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
