KERLEY
Dundalk,County Louth, Ireland
I am seeking living relatives in Dundalk who can help with my family tree.
JAMES KERLEY was my great grandfather. Born 1st Aug. 1849-1855 Dundalk. His first marriage to CATHERINE HOLLYWOOD from Caraff, ARMAGH , 6th June 1882 at St. Bedes, Masbrough, District of Rotherham, Conties of York and Derby.
JAMES KERLEY and CATHERINE emigrated on "Scottish Knight" to Port of Mackay, Queensland, Australia arriving 2nd November 1882.
I'm trying to contact siblings of JAMES KERLEY.
It is believed he had brothers, JOHN and PETER - whereabouts not known - went to Australia and/or USA. Also, supposedly a sister who went to Canada and married a Scotsman.
JAMES KERLEY's marriage certificate gives his father as CONSTANTINE KERLEY. JAMES KERLEY's death certificate gives his mother as BRIDGET DURNIN/DURNAN. Informant at his death was his second wife who may not have known - she gave his father not as CONSTANTINE as on JAMES' own marriage certificate, but as PATRICK.
ALSO, help please on this one:
KIRLEY, (spelling with an "i") Joseph age 22,( Labourer), Ann age 25, (Servant), and Peter age 27 - all emigrated to Boston, Massachusetts the ship arriving 7th May 1851.
I presume this is the same JOSEPH KERLEY who left BOSTON on the first sailing ship from that Port to Victoria, Australia arriving Melbourne Victoria 4th January 1853. He lived in Geelong, Victoria, and went "home" to Ireland for a holiday. He died in Dundalk 25th June 1888 and was buried there. This JOSEPH KERLEY had six siblings - a brother JAMES and( sisters Ann and Mary who emigrated to America.)
There is no cemetery inscription (at least not printed) for JOSEPH KERLEY.
Can I have some help please from Ireland?
Are my JAMES KERLEY and this JOSEPH KERLEY sibling? or what is the relationship, if any?
Who are Joseph's parents?
Thanks, in anticipation.
Di (nee KERLEY) Randell
Queensland/Australia.
