My ancestor James Wilkie attested to East India Company in 1816 aged 23yrs. He set sail for Madras January 1817 on the Herefordshire. He gave his previous occupation as Cabinet Maker and his parish as Lesmahagow ( although in the register it was spelt Lismahaga) I cannot find any trace at all. HELP!! Replies gratefully received.
