I am seeking information on Claude Campbell who left Aberdeen, Scotland and went to Anconna, Italy, about 1750. He apparantly changed the name to Comelati (Camelate, Comelate)He was a British Agent. He had at least one son Alexander.Alexander was also a British Agent. There were also merchants in the family. Alexander had a son Joseph George Comelati who worked for the British Govt in Hong Kong in the 1840s - 1850s as Chief Clerk of the Treasury. He died in Paris about 1857. His neice Josephine Mathilda Comelati is our G.G. Grandmother. She was born in Smyrna and married Floriano Antonio Rangel in Hong Kong in 1856. Lord Nelson and Lord Hamilton used to stay at the Comelati residence in Anconna. Any information on this family would be helpful.
