Hi..Iam researching my family history and looking for descendants of Robert Findley and Jane Hales.My Great Great grand father was their son.He was named Robert Findley and born about1840/1850.in Forfarshire according to his marriage certificate.
He married Rhoda Florence Orpwood(better known as Florence) in Queensland Australia on 31/12/1873.Florence was from England.
They had 7 children ..i e 4 boys and 3 girls.The boys all died in childhood...the girls were Elizabeth Lillian,Eleanor and Florence May Findley...these 3 all married and had numerous descendants in Australia..Iam descended from Florence May...Iam desperate to learn more about my "Scottish heritage" and the Findley family there but have had no luck as I have so little information.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
I think Robert Findley senior was either a Sailor or Tailor...Robert Junior was definately a Tailor and worked in the Parramatta area of N.S.W until his death from cardiac arrest in 1888.
