Searching for birth parents....
My name is Amanda GILBERT (nee LEITCH) and I was born in Luanshya, ZAMBIA on 25 May 1969.
From birth I was presented for adoption in ZAMBIA. My birth mothers name is "Nicola Illsa NEWTON" and I believe she is a Nurse from IRELAND. I have no information of my birth father. My extract Zambian birth Certificate displays my name Amanda LEITCH with no mention of my birth parents dated 26th August 1970. I do not have any documentary evidence to support my first 15 months of my life.
I was first adopted in Zambia to a Zambian couple. To my knowledge they died in a motor vehicle accident when I was nine months old and I have no documentation or details of them. In early 1970, I then became a ward of the Zambian Government and entered into a public custody battle between my first adoptive parents grandmother and the Zambian Government.
The High Court decision ruled that I become a ward of the State of Zambia. I was then adopted to my current parents Mervyn and Margaret LEITCH from ZAMBIA on the 26th August 1970.
I have no other detail's, any assistance or contacts will be appreciated.
