Looking for information on the family of William Fawbert, born about 1803 in England - died about 1855 in USA. Family information passed down is: parents - Jane Evringham and William Fawbert of Oakley Hall, Norfolk, England. Their son, William, married Mary A. Howard around 1840-1841. This couple traveled to the USA sometime around 1841-1842.
Based on USA Census records, this couple was in New York in 1843 as their only child was born there. In 1850 they lived in Nashville, Davidson County, TN. The 1850 records show Mary born in Ireland. William's occupation was 'painter' which I take to mean artist as 'house painters' are usually listed as such. When William died around 1855, Mary stayed in the USA and remarried.
