Am looking for paternal grandfather's family.
His name was Ernest Whittaker, born in Chapeltown in south Yorkshire about 1883-4.
His family later moved to leeds to live.
His parents were John William and Mary.
JW was a bootmaker.
My gf Ernest had
2 sisters -names unknown- one married a butcher in Leeds
and brothers
-George,no details known
-John William (known as William -He went to France and married Rae,had a son Richard and daughter Jacquline).
May have had more siblings unknown to us.
Ernest was in the 3rd V.Batt, PWO Rifles Leeds
before coming to australia with his 1st wife Emma,
in 1912. She died sometime between 1912 and August 1914 when Ernest joined the Australian Infantry Forces.
Ernest was wounded at Galloipi 25/4/1915 and again twice later when serving in France.
In 1917 he married Florence Paynter of Tottenham. They had a girl Margaret-aka Peggy-before coming to Australia in 1920 from Liverpool, on the ship Megantic.
He lived at 16 Waverly St Hunslet between 1917 and 1920, with his brother's George and William and a Harriet Whittaker.
In Australia, He and Florence had twins John-SB and Ernest who lived til 1990. Then Richard Authur,then Thomas-who died in the 1980's. Florence and Peggy both died in 1933.
Ernest worked as an Electricial Fitter.
Ernest died in 1944.
My father Richard is their only surviving child.
Am looking for contact with any of Ernests relations and their decensents.
