I am looking for a 5th great grandfather Alexander Brown who was born in Leith Scotland 1810 to David and Ann Bain......or Alexander F. Brown born 1812, born to David and Mary Cation. Both born in Leith, Scotland.
Alexander I presume was a seaman and sailed to the south pacific islands and settled in Samoa on the island of Manu'a where he gained a high cheifs title, and then eventually the island of Upolu in Aleipata. There has been no other record of Alexanders life prior to Samoa. In Samoa he had about 5 or 6 wives and many children. It it also said that he had a brother named John who settled in another south pacific island, the Kingdom of Tonga.
If anyone in Scotland or wherever knows of any handed down stories of any Brown who settled in Samoa or Tong during the mid 1800's
I would be most happy to hear from them. |
