Hi! I was adopted at birth and although have very limited information on my background am not looking for my actual 'birth parents' but the support for the change in adoption administration to gather family health history and also propose a change to treatment of adopted persons in the Health Service. I was placed as a baby in a very loving family and have been very happy but my 'adopted' mother died of breast cancer when I was very young, sadly her mother died of breast cancer also. My sister who was of 'natural' birth was warned in her teens that she was high risk however it was myself who at 28 had a lump removed. Currently in Scotland there is no provision by the NHS to screen adopted persons early for cancer or indeed any illness as unknown family history is treated as NO family history and I personally would like a change in legislation. If anyone has comments (positive or negative!) I would appreciate if you could get back to me! Thank you!! LB
