SNEDDON/HOLLINSWORTH
Am seeking information about ggrandparents from Sneddon and Hollinsworth families.
Grandfather - James Sneddon born 1868 ? Scotland, died London Ontario Canada 1930. He was a Ships Carpenter. Known to have sailed on Sailing Ships (possibly Clippers) 1893, as Ships Carpenter (Chippy) - The Pass of Killicranky, and others and later on the Aranconrade from which my father had his discharge papers. He later worked at Aitken & Mansell Kelvinhaugh Shipbuilders. Lived originally in Partick and later Kelvinhaugh. He emigrated to Canada in about 1922/25, ahead of his wife and several other members of the family and his grandson James Sneddon, aged 6 at the time, who joined him in about 1927. Details of these family members and descendants are known, but none can give any details of family earlier than these dates.
His wife - my Grandmother - was Isabella Hollinsworth - born ? Scotland 1870 - died London, Ontario, Canada 1958 and again none of the surviving descendants know any details of her parents or family.
My father, also James Sneddon (Born 1893) and his brother George, did not emigrate. George remained in Scotland and my father moved to Wigan Lancashire, England and married again in 1931. All that is known of his first marriage and my half-brother's mother is that her name was Tilly, and that she died at childbirth or shortly afterwards in 1921. George Sneddon had two children, George and Eleanor. If there is anyone who can provide any further information of the Hollinsworth/Sneddon families or details of George's children, my cousins, Eleanor and George, who I met once in the 1940's, or suggest any FREE sources where I might search for information - (exchange rates too high at present to pay to search Census Records etc.) I would be very grateful.
