I am trying to find what country my ggg-grandfather came from. Some descendants say that it was England. I don't agree with this. They thought this as he had talked about living near a body of water. His name was Wyatt Parker and he was born about 1755 and came to America as a young man and served on the Virginia Line in the Revolutionary War. He seems to have immigrated alone as no relatives are known to have been in the country at that time. I believe him to have been Scotch or Irish as my grandfather, Dr. Rainey Cowell Parker, talked of nothing but his Scotch/Irish heritage and had a collection of Scotch and Irish records etc. and talked of a kilt belonging to his g-grandfather that his father wore on occasion. Grandpa named his first son Malcolm Wyatt Parker and Scotch and Irish names run through his family. If anyone has any clues or suggestions, please let me know.
