I am looking for William Murphy who married Margaret O'Gorman about 1863 in Ireland, they had two children in County Mayo in 1864 and 1865
William was a stonecutter
The story was that he was the son of a landowner in Northern Ireland, the Belfast area, by the name of Johnstone but he fell out with his father and changed his name to Murphy, making my task very difficult. His father disinherited him at that time. He was once in the Inniskilling Dragoons.
The family later moved to England and are listed in the 1881 census in Rochdale Lancashire.
Can anyone please help me with this great puzzle. I am beginning to despair. |
