The 5th Bn. Queens Own Cameron Highlanders.
My name is Bert Buitenhuis, I lived from 1940 till 1947 in the town named 's-Hertogenbosch (province North Brabant) Holland.
That time I was 12 years old. After the liberation in October 1944 through
the 53rd Welsh, came in Nov/Dec.the 51st Highland Division with the 152 Brigade.In this brigade are the 2nd - 5th Seaforth Highlanders and the 5th Queens Own Cameron Highlanders, in this regiment was a soldier named Leslie, his surname is probable Thompson, he walk often from Vught
to our home on the Orthenseroad 81. He must with his battalion on December 16 1944.leave for the Ardennes (Belgium) and was for a number of days billeted in Chaudfontaine. He must game back in January 1945 to Vught and give my father a photo standig in front of the house in Chaudfontaine.
Then he must fight for the liberation of Germany and from that time we have never more somewhat heart from him, it was given to understand that he be killed in Germany and that is not correct, he is not on the list from soldiers they fall in battle. And now I search for many years this veteran. who can help me to find him?
I have writh to several authoritys but she can not help me. It's not my intention to have information from his private live, but maybe he
can give me some information of that part from the war. I have a photo from him.
