I am looking for the ancestors of Robert Keneda (Kennedy), who line supposedly goes back to Scotland.
Robert Keneda (Kennedy) was born March 3, 1775, NY. He died Aug. 18, 1849, Hector, Schuyler Co., NY.
Robert married Mary Opdyke (Opdike; Updike).
I am pretty sure that Mary's line was from Holland (The Netherlands) before they came to NJ/NY territory.
Robert & Mary had the following children:
-William, the oldest, b. July 12, 1797
-Enoch, b. June 30, 1804, Tompkins Co., NY.
-Elias, b. Nov. 1, 1806
-Abram, b. Aug. 5, 1807
-Gilbert, b. Nov. 18, 1808, town of Ulysses, NY.
Gilbert Keneda (Kennedy) married Maria Van Fleet (b. 1810, New Jersey.). I have also been unable to find out who Maria's parents were. I am very convinced her parents were in the Van Vliet line from Holland (The Netherlands) >NJ/NY area.
I also found a record on LDS which states: 'Maria Van Fleet, born March 10, 1810 in Hunterdon, New Jersey. Her parents were John Van Fleet & Nellie Van Syckle.' I have been unable to find any info. showing that this is the same Maria who married Gilbert Keneda (Kennedy.)
-James, b. July 10, 1813
-Alvey, b. Jan. 9, 1819
