I am researching my gg grandparents
John William STEWART born Poplar about 1843
married Hackney, London 12.6.1865 to
Eleanor (Ellen) Foster born Bromley about 1840
John William's parents were John Agnew STEWART
and Martha Jane WEDERICK
Eleanor's parents were John FOSTER and Margaret
BRAME
I think John William had a brother....William.
John and Ellen sailed to Australia on the ship
MV Arthurstone sailed from Queenstown on 27th April 1879 with their daughter Eleanor Frances STEWART 8yrs, Ellen was pregnant and my g grandfather William Thomas Arthurstone STEWART was born 30.6.1879 in the Great Southern Ocean.They arrived in Moreton Bay on 31.7.1879. We have be told John was a ships captain but I can't confirm this but he did work for HM Customs in Brisbane Australia.
On the same ship the 'Arthurstone' was Ellen FOSTERS sister and her family the BAXTERS.
William Noah BAXTER 36yrs, Caroline 18yrs, Eliza 16yrs,Mary 14yrs, Jane 12yrs, Alice 8yrs, Agatha 5yrs,William 3yrs and mother Mary 37yrs.
Would like to find decendents of these families
as William Noah is buried in the same grave as
John William and Ellen STEWART at Toowong Cemetary in Brisbane, Qld.
