|I am trying to trace my Great Grandfather's family and since my last posting have made a little progress, thanks to the census returns especially the 1901 census, and have made a few corrections.
Andrew Tait was born in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland between 1835 and 1837/8 according to the various census returns (there is confusion over his age from one census to another), wife Jessie (Thompson ?)born 1835 or 1837, Rothesay, Argyleshire, Scotland (more confusion in the census returns over her age!) married on 10 June 1859, Central District, Glasgow, Lanarkshire.
Children :- (possible child from LDS site)
-I would like to check the 1871 Census for Liverpool to see if he was there.-
Alexander Anderson Tait b.14 Aug 1859, Clyde, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland?
(the following according to 1881 census for Liverpool) :-
Maggie A Tait b.29 May 1861,Central District, Glasgow, Scotland.
Jessie Tait b.1867,Liverpool, Merseyside, England
The below were all in Bath, Somerset, England for the 1891 census.
John T Tait b.1864,Liverpool, Merseyside, England
(married Martha, children- Andrew and Marian b.1888 (twins?)This family was no longer in Bath in 1901, so maybe emigrated (where to?)
The 1901 Census showed the below except for my grandfather.
Elizabeth R Tait b.1869,Liverpool, Merseyside, England
Died in Bath.
William Tait b.1875,Liverpool, Merseyside, England
(my grandfather)died in Bath,13 Oct 1900.
Alice V Tait b.1877,Liverpool, Merseyside, England
died in Bath.
Andrew W Tait b.1880,Liverpool, Merseyside, England
died in Bath, March 1951.
(my father's uncle and family known to me)
As my father died 30 years ago and his cousins(88 and 92 years) have failing memories, I am having difficulties tracing other cousins.
Did the others die young or emigrate?
If any of this rings a bell, please email me as I have all the details of my family and that of my father's cousin and hope to find more connections.
