I am trying to trace the roots of my great-grandmother Ann Allen who was born in Ireland (don't know county) in 1841/1843 her father was John - don't know mother's name. She emigrated to England with a friend (don't know when)where she had a son but was not married. She later married Joseph Taylor in Preston Lancashire England. The friends name could have been Bridget Patterson (born Ireland) as on the 1881 British Census Bridget is a border in Ann's house and both their ages are 39! If anybody out there can give me any leads I would be most appreciative
