I am looking for information about the MCDOWELLS of Kirkmaiden, Wigtown County. James (c1690) of Kirkmaiden is my 5g grandfather. Married Elizabeth Wallace Next generations are:
ALEXANDER (b April 21, 1724) (m. Elizabeth Morrison June 26, 1755)
ALEXANDER (b. Nov 6, 1770) (m Janet McCHERY OR MCALERY)
Janet and Alexander had a son James (b.Feb 27, 1788) Soon after this it is believed they went to Cork County Ireland where John (my progenetor) was born. They later went to New Brunswick, Canada. James died in 1849 in Pennfield, N.B.
