My GGrand father was Eli Litherland (b. 1871, St. Helens) and was married to Selina Jones (b1880,). They lived on Back Johnson Street, Tylesdey at one time in the late 1800 and early 1900's We know there were four daughters. My grandmother was Mary, her sisters were Florence, Kit, Lillian, Ellen and a brother named David. My Grandfather, Eli was coal miner and left Selina after the last child was born, she worked in a pub to support the children. Selina died at a young age.
I have some basic information about Eli and Selina, but it is very sketchy. Eli's father was William and he was born in St. Helen's. When he married in 1888 he lived at 48 Darlington St. and his father had died. Selina lived at 31 Mancester rd and her father was David, who was a coalminer.
I am coming to England in early spring and would like to find out more about this people and where they lived, but not exactly sure where I should start looking on even stay. Any help with be much appreciated.
