Looking for information on my G grandfather John Girdwood.
He was the son of
Richard and Margaret Girdwood m.1849 St Cuthberts Edinburgh. Richard had a dairy and greengrocers shop in Causewayside Edinburgh.
John Girdwood also had a dairy in Minto Street.
John had a son with Jemima Watson is housekeeper but they did not marry.My grandfather was adopted by the Hay family.
Several brickwalls but the main one is John's death -I can find no record in Scotland.
Anyone who has any information will be greeted warmly.
I also would love to know why his parents adopted him despite giving him both their names ie
John Watson Girdwood.
