CARR/STUART/AITKEN Families England and Australia
In CARR family research, my mother Priscilla Jane STUART/CARR (b. 1947?) is estranged from all family and therefore limited information is available.
Have traced us back to John Dodgson Carr of Carr's Biscuit Co. of Carlisle, Cumbria, England, whose brother Laurence Carr was a "layabout" and went on to start Peek Freans Biscuit Co. with Mr. Peek and Mr. Frean. Laurence was the owner of the Bermondsey land to which the Peek Frean factory was relocated in 1866 John Dodgson's wife's name remains lost, however he had two sons at least, Arthur CARR and John Laurence CARR. John married Anita AITKEN, and had at least one son, Ian Laurence CARR (b. 1912), my maternal grandfather, who married Patricia Pope Leslie STUART, and had four? children, Robin CARR (male), and two other sisters as well as Priscilla Jane, my mother.
The STUART side (my maternal grandmother) emigrated to Melbourne Australia, where ? STUART, my grandmother's father, was the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and had a brother Francis STUART (not the authour) who had something to do with Lincoln Trust Co. and Centerway in Melbourne. The STUART line is reputed to be that of Charles II, Mary STUART, etc.
Any information would be wildly appreciated...
