To anyone seeing my original message searching for Valerie Ann STOCKS, I have found her.
With the help of half a dozen people from another missing you site, I found my birth family within 3 days. The most helpful reply was from a lady called Eileen and thanks to her, I have now found I also have 8 Aunts & Uncles and a half sister I never knew about.
Norcap & the Children's Society have also been fantastic and I believe there is a Paternal Aunt searching for me too.
Don't give up your search, but if there were any organisations involved in your adoption that are still in existence please get their assistance in mediating. Also NORCAP are a fantastic help, and unbeknown to me until now, if you know your original birth name & place you can approach that Registrar directly for a copy of your original birth certificate - only costs £6.50 in the UK !No need to wait for counselling to apply for the certificate and it may prove helpful in your search.
