| I am trying to trace my father's family. Name Harden. Grandfather in particular - Albert Edward Harden. Can find no trace of his marriage to my grandmother Kate Holmes. They had 4 children - Denise born 1919 in Thornton Le Fen, Lincoln, John born 1920 in Deal, Kent, my father Albert Edmund born 1921 in Tralee Ireland and Edward born 1922 in Hull. On Denise's birth cert Kate Holmes is described as a ladies maid and father's section left blank. On John's birth certificate my grandfather's name is given as the father and my grandmother is called Kate Harden formerly Holmes. My grandfather is described as "of independent means". The family then moved to Tralee in Ireland where my father was born - my grandfather being described on his birth certificate as "lieutenant machine gun corps". On Edward's birth certificate he is described as "grocer own account". I can find no information for my grandfather after this date. My grandmother re-married in 1929 describing herself as a widow. Her husband was Henry John Scarbrow and they had a daughter later that year named Eileen Auriol Kitty. They were living in Walthamstow. My grandmother died in 1946. Apart from being unable to find any trace of my grandparents' marriage I can find no trace of my grandfather's death. |
