I am looking for information about Jane Smith, my 4th great grandmother. She married Prince/Prence Doane III. The Doane genealogy says "Prince Doane III was born at Saybrook Conn. in 1760 and died at Great Barrington, Mass. about 1806. He married at New Milford, Feb 1779, Jane Smith a native of Scotland, the daughter of wealthy parents. It is said that she left the old country without the consent or knowledge of her parents, and that she never heard from her family after leaving Scotland." Family lore says Prince was on business in Glascow when he met Jane, the daughter of William Smith, the head of the firm and that the night his ship sailed they eloped.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
