I am trying to find one of my Mother's sisters.
her name is LORETTA GOMES
Born/ 16/03/47
Her mother's maiden name was BARBARA ISABELLA BUCKHAM
Her father's name was NORISH GOMES(known as LAWRENCE)who worked as a cook in a London Restaurant "La Pigalle"
In the late 40'and early 50's they lived in 52 Marsden Street. Islington.
Later on moving to 44 Blenheim Gardens, Brixton.
After this they moved back to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
LAWRENCE died in May 1986.
BARBARA died in January 1989.
The Last evidence of LORETTA'S existance was in a letter of Lawrece's brother in law from India in December 1948 asking about their new baby.
I have exhausted my searches in The Family Records Centre and there are no deaths or marriage entries for LORETTA GOMES
I wonder if she was adopted, or put into a childrens home as I was.
I am also looking for my Mother RHODA BUCKHAM
Born in Chester-Le-Street Co.Durham in 1930
LORETTA GOMES will be RHODA BUCKHAM's half- sister.
The last known letter I have from my Mother was in 1955, as she was trying to maintain contact with me through the childrens home were I was.
My Mother was living then with an Indian man by the name of MURAI LAL OHRI
As far as I know she was raised by some relatives by the name of NESBITT,in Washington, Newcastle and left at about 17 years of age and went down to London with her Mother(BARBARA ISABELLA BUCKHAM)
Again I have exhausted all my searches in The Family Records Centre. Islington.
There are no records of deaths,or Marriages for RHODA BUCKHAM.
If anyone has any information on anything of the above please don't hesitate to contact me.
