| Searching for information on The Leckes, Lecky,Lechie, who arrived in Ireland about 1610-25 because of religious persecution imposed by the Text Act in Scotland. Brothers, William and John Lackey, perhaps a brother James. William and John arrived in Pennsylvania,USA, about 1720.Most of the clerks were German who wrote names as they heard them spoken, so Leckie became Lackey. William was born in Scotland or Ireland about 1680. I am a descedent of this family. Any information on their ancestors in Scotland or Ireland would be greatly appreciated. |
