I am interested in finding out more about the parentage of a William BOYD, b. northern Ireland c1768. He later resided in County Down (Killinchy?)and md twice a COOK and a CARSON.

Circa 1820 he and several children sailed to North America, two died on the crossing and were buried at sea. Family lived in Baltimore, in PA, also possibly Canada and New York. This family settled in Erie Co., PA.

I found that there Boyd's who were brought over in one of the Plantations into Norther Ireland and have been trying to connect this line with one of those to no luck. A document by this line dated in the 1800's indicates that William had been a "croppy". That may account for his leaving Ireland in the early part of the 19th century.
