I am seeking information on my GR Gr Grandparents, John Skilling and Marion Cochrane.
We believe they were from the Inverkip Renfrewshire area of Scotland and emmigrated to Canada circa 1853.After John's death from a fall in 1864, Marion re-married and according to her marriage notice at that time, her parents were listed as John and Margaret Cochrane of Inverkip Renfreshire Scotland. apparently, Marion's father had belonged to a British Regiment sent to Afroca in the 1820's to deal with a Zulu uprising and according to a now dead second cousin, she believed that he was an engineer. Any lead would be appreciated
