I MET A LOVELY LADY WHEN WE MOVED TO LEICESTER EARLY 1944 WITH THE 82ND AIRBORNE DIV. AFTER THE WAR WAS OVER AND I WAS STATIONED IN FRANCE I CAME BACK TO SEE HER FOR TWO WEEKS. IT WAS HARD TO LEAVE HER AS WE KNEW WE WOULD PROBABLY NEVER SEE EACHOTHER AGAIN. AFTER MANY YEARS BACK IN THE STATES I DECIDED TO TRY TO LOCATE HER TO SEE HOW SHE WAS DOING. AFTER SEVERAL YEARS OF SEARCHING WITH NO RESULTS I FINALLY CONTACTED THE HINCKLEY TIMES AND ASK THEM TO PUT AN ADD IN THEIR PAPER THAT I WAS LOOKING FOR HER. WITHIN TWO WEEKS I RECIVED A LETTER AND A COPPY OF A DEATH CERTIFICATE SHOWING SHE DIED DEC. 10 1947. THIS WAS A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS AFTER COMING BACK TO SEE HER.
I HAVE SEARCHED SEVERAL TIMES LOOKING FOR SOMEONE THAT KNEW HER WITH NO RESULTS. I WOULD LIKE TO CONTACT SOMEONE THAT KNEW HER. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE FAMILY GRAVE WHICH INCLUDES MOTHER, FATHER, A SON AND DAUGHTER. SHE WAS ONLY 25 WHEN SHE DIED. HER NAME WAS WINFRED ELIZABETH GLOVER. SHE LIVED WITH PARENTS AT 17 LYME ROAD.
