I am researching ROBERT MUIR OF STIRLING SCOTLAND 1826-cir1905 who with his brother ran ships from Glascow to Vancouver, and reputedly owned deeds to Long Island.
Both were caught up in the war with the French.I believe one was related to John of US forests fame and the other owned railways.
What was the name of the brother?
What were their descendants in the US?
Who were their Scotish forbears?

His two eldest sons came to Australia 1848.
