I am looking for the family of my father, BRIAN CLIFFORD EMERY, born Southwark, 1920. His parents GEORGE EMERY & (LILIAN) MURIEL, NEE CLIFFORD. 11 Siblings: Beresford William, Kathleen, Muriel, Joan, Desmond, Norah Maureen, Noel, Sheila, Patrick, Irene and Hazel.
I cannot find who George Emery's parents were, as the 1891 census states that, although born in Paddington, he was a nine year old boarder in an agricultural labourer's cottage in Kent with no apparent parent present. I think my grandfather took this secret to the grave because my father was told the Emerys came from the Channel Islands, but you may be able to help me with where Lilian Muriel's grandparents, William Clifford and the previously widowed Margaret Burke nee Fitzgerald or Fitzgerald nee Burke came from in County Cork.
Any info would be received most gratefully as I have hit a brickwall on either side.
