| I am looking for information about my grandfather Edward Hughes who was born 19 December 1923, son of John Hughes and Catherine Connell or O'Connell, both of Ballina, Co. Mayo. Edward was their eldest son as far as I know, and their further children were John, born 1925, Patrick, born 1927, Ellen born about 1931 and James born 1933. I ordered Edward's birth certificate from the Dublin Record Office recently but was disappointed to find they couldn't trace him. He died in Nottingham in 1985. John Hughes Senior died in 1950 after an accident whilst working on the railway at Hapton in Lancashire, and Catherine Hughes died of double pneumonia in April 1935. |
