Update: John Donaldson
Hi there,
New info has surfaced from posting on message boards(thanks all!) about my GGFather John Donaldson born about 1854? in Glasgow (not Islay)he may have been an orphan with atleast 1 sister. On Dec 6 1877 he married Margaret (Maggie) McAlister in Campbeltown and settled down as a cooper there raising 8 children. On his marriage reg. he stated that his parents John and Catherine Donaldson were deceased, and his dad was a distillery worker. Margaret said here parents were Archibald McAlister and Janet McArther, the marriage was witnessed by Elizabeth McArthur. I would appreciate any info on my GGFather's siblings or the couples parents, or any info on orphans in Scotland. Thanks |
