| I am searching for information on William Jackson born between 1820-1825 (approx) He married Janet McMillan September 29,1845 in Maybole, Ayr, Scotland. Two girls were born to this union. Mary Gordon (christening info says Gardiner) Jackson, and Grace Jackson. The girls were both christened in Free Church, Maybole, Ayr, Scotland in 1846 and 1848. William immigrated to the United States in about 1849. Janet died on the voyage and was buried at sea. In 1850, William was in North Madison, Indiana working as a plasterer. He was staying with a John Walker and his daughters were staying with a Catherine and John Rankin. These individuals were all born in Scotland, but the Rankins had immigrated many years before. I would welcome any and all information on Jacksons or McMillans in the Maybole area in this time period. Thank you for your help. William is my gggrandfather and Mary is my ggrandmother. |
