I was born Peter Leslie Smith on 13th July 1956 at a Nursing home in South Norwood, London. My natural mother is Betty Maureen Smith born 29th May 1939. I was adopted by George and Vera Langdown who lived in Windsor Road, Ealing following my fostering from The Thomas Corum Foundation. I now live in Weymouth as does my adopted mum who is now 83 years old I would like to contact Betty as I would like to know my other family and let her know that I am happy and well in my life. She said that she would always remember me on my birthday. Betty lived at 36 Clematis Street in West London when I was born. Her parents were Arthur and Queenie Smith and I believe she had 5 brothers. The oldest was aged 19 and doing National Service and the youngest was aged 5 (Malcolm?). I believe from correspondence that I have that she married an American (Serviceman?) called
Edgar E Pope in 1958. My adopted parents heard no more from her after 1958. I don't know if she moved to the USA or if they settled here in the UK. I would be grateful for any information that people could give me to assist my search. Should any of her relatives (Smith / Pope) or friends reading this not wish to respond then I will quite understand. Thank You Peter Langdown |
