James Farrell, my great grandfather, was born in 1838 or 1837 at Ashton Under Lyne, Lancashire, England. Both his parents were born in Ireland, as was his wife Catherine (born 1841). The 1881 British census lists him as a railway guard living in Warrington, Lancashire with his wife and their children: Thomas (born 1867), John Rupert (born 1872), Julia (born 1869), and Esther Alice, my grandmother (born 1878). He came to the US in 1891. Daughter Julia had arrived the year before and Esther Alice in 1889. Can anybody tell me more about my Irish Farrell ancestors?
