Hello - I wonder if anyone can help. I am trying to find out about the men who traded as skinners, tanners and fleshers in Edinburgh in times past, especially in the 18th century. I need to know the exact duties they performed, the locations in the city where they operated and also, if possible, who they were, i.e, names of families etc.
If anyone has first hand knowledge of this subject, or knows of any books or other publications, I would be very grateful if they could let me know.
My reasons for this search are connected solely with family history, as I believe ancestors of mine were engaged in one or all of the above trades in Edinburgh.
