| BOWN - LOOKING FOR DESCENDANTS of Benjamin Bown, born Winchester, Hampshire, c. 1835 and Annie Carter, born Portsmouth, Hampshire, c. 1855 - married Portsmouth - 1875. Children were Annie Bown, c. 1876, Benjamin Charles Bown, c. 1878, Walter William Bown, c. 1880, and Edward Bown, born and died c. 1884. Annie Sr. died c. 1884 and Benjamin Sr. died c. 1893 in Portsmouth. Walter William Bown(s) was sent to Canada in 1895 through the "British Home Children" program and died in Regina, Saskatchewan, c. 1969. Last information on Benjamin Charles Bown had him leaving the Portsea Island Union Workhouse in 1896 and we know nothing further. Annie Bown married Benjamin Greenidge in Southampton in 1902 and we know of one child, Lilian, born 1907 in Southampton. |
