| I am trying to trace any members of my original birth family. I was born in Bath on 26th October 1949. I was registered as ANTHONY JOSEPH-MCGRATH. My birth mother gave her name as VALERIE JEAN JOSEPH-MCGRATH otherwise CLEMENTS formerly TUDBALL. I have traced my mother who now lives in Melbourne, Australia. My mother tells me that she met my father in Bath in 1949 and they lived together at 19 Upper Camden Place, Bath, for some months. She tells me that my father's name was ALBERT DAVID JOSEPH-MCGRATH. As far as she was aware he came originally from Lyme Regis in Dorset and at the time she knew him he was approx 30. When she became pregnant with me apparently he took flight and despite an affiliation order being taken out, the police were unable to trace him. It was at this point that she found out that he was reputedly already married with four children. Neither my mother or I bear him any ill will, but I particularly would like to find either him or any of his children (who would obviously be half-siblings) just to put in place the final link. I cannot find the double-barrelled name Joseph-Mcgrath anywhere and so assume that either it has died out, or that he used this as a combination of names. Maybe his real surname was just Mcgrath or just Joseph. Please, please, please can anyone out there help?? |
