| John Irving (sometimes spelled Irvine) and Isabella Carlyle had seven children who reached maturity. One was Joseph, born on 11th June 1838, is known to have gone to Australia with a brother, Thomas Carlyle Irving, and soon after that either to the U S A or Canada to prospect for gold. Robert was born in Hindgill, Dalton, Dumfriesshire. Does anyone have any information about him? |
