I am researching my Wood/Woods line. I've found a web site that has a great amount of info on my Wood/Woods line, but from my research, it looks like some of the info is incorrect.

The person who did this page says that the Matthew Wood was a cabinet maker in England and he immigrated to US at Pennsylvania. He had 2 sons William, James and Thomas.
James is the supposed father of my grgrgrgrandfather who was supposed to be born in Pennsylvania, but this website's account.
When I began my resesarch, I found James Warren Woods (in 1850MO, 1860AR, 1870AR, & 1880MO census)- my grandmother's grandfather - he was born in Kentucky, his father(this supposed James from PA) was born in Virginia.
So this website is incorrect.
There are several William's, James', Thomas', Franklin's, Joseph's, and John's in my Wood/Woods family line, but no Matthew's.
If there is anyone who has any info on the Wood/Woods family who immigrated to USA in mid 1700's, please let me know.
I am also researching the Pendergrass/Prendergrast, Baker, Wilhite/Willhoit/Willheit, Carr/Karr, Self/Selfe, Amerson/Emerson, Emley, Gressley, & Votra lines.
I would be more than happy to share the info I have on these families with anyone who is interested. |
