Can anyone help with information on the adoption of my half sister who was born to my mother when I was four.
Her birth name was LESLEY SUSAN DELANEY, born 16th July 1945 in High Wycombe,Buckinghamshire,in District Maternity Home..
Delaney was my father's name, but on her birth cert that I have recently aquired her natural father was Richard Bradfield Jakins, Staff sgt 223830(v),with the South African Forces and based in Shenfold? Main Camp in Horsham,Sussex when she was born, my father was abroad at that time andLesley was given up at birth I believe.
Rumour has it, that her grandparents from South Africa came and took her back to S.A. with them, but I would have thought that the adoption papers would have had to be in place here, prior to them taking her to S.A.
However this is only a rumour which may or not be true. I have found reference to him in South Africa, but he died in 1967.
Our mother was Delaney (nee Bacon)on her birth cert, which is correct.
