I am looking for the descendents of James Ferguson b May 1718 d Jul 1800 married to Ann Kilpatrick b 1749 d/o Henry Kilpatrick and Jean Mitchell. They lived in Campbeltown, Argyll, Scotland. I am descended from their son Hugh b 1794 married 1832 to Janet Ferguson b 1803 d/o James Ferguson and Mary Ferguson of Campbeltown. They both all in Campbeltown. Their daughter Mary B 1770 died young, Jean b 1772 married James Anderson, James b 1775 and James b 1783. One of them married Jean Campbell and may have descendents in Illinois. Margaret b 1785, Janet b 1787, Samuel b 1791 may have married Ellis Hamilton, Ann married John Greenlees a distiller in Campbeltown, Elizabeth m Matthew Anderson and moved to Motherwell. James and Mathew Anderson shared in ownership of land in Campbeltown. When James Anderson died his half of the property on Longrow Street in Campbeltown went to his brother-in-law Hugh Ferguson (my ancestor). James Anderson's half went to his son Samuel. Samuel Anderson Jr. inherited from his father. He died after he married Susan Harvey. They had one daughter Martha Reid Anderson. I assume she inherited the property when was of age. When Hugh Ferguson died in 1852, his part of the land went of his son James who disappeared. 70 years later James' share went to my grandfather Hugh Fergusons oldest brother William Ferguson of Illinois because his father William Ferguson son of Hugh and Janet had died. I am still looking for the final disposition of this property.

By the way, Mary Ferguson who m James Ferguson is the daughter of Hugh Ferguson and Mary Mitchell. James is the son of James Ferguson and Isabell Thomson.

I look forward to hearing from anyone who shares Campbeltown history.

Also looking for Peterkins from Perth, Perth, Scotland

Aye,
Kathleen Ferguson Kane; FSA Scot
