I would like to know if anyone knows anything about a Joseph Thorn (my g,g,g,g grandfather) born 1797 in Axmouth, Devon in England. He married Mary Gallard in 1818 in Hinckley in Leicester. He died in 1883 in Devon.
Over the years Thorn was spelt Thorne.
In the 1881 census he is 84 and living with Joshua Beacon (40) and his wife Elizabeth(80). Joseph's marriage status is 'widowed'. Joshua Beacon is named a the head of the household and Joseph is described as a relative.
Elizabeth maybe related but I am unable to find her maiden name.
