I would like to make contact with my natural mother. I was adopted through Leicester county court in August 1971 but I believe that my Birth mother signed the papers in the first two weeks of June 1971. A Mrs Hazel Pople and a Miss P D Russell were the case workers involved in my adoption, from the Diocese of Leicester Council For Social Work, 3a West Street, Leicester.
My name before adoption was Jonathan Porter. I was born in Loughborough on the 24th February 1971 weighing 8 lbs 10 ozs.
A letter from the Council For Social Work describes my natural mother as (in 1971) a single girl in her teens, grey/green eyes, about 5'4" tall. She was the fourth child of eight (being the eldest daughter). Her mother was suffering from asthma and, as a result, my natural mother took on a great deal of responsibility caring for the younger members of the family. She attended a local High School, leaving at 15 to work in a shop. Her father was a motor mechanic and her grand father used to have a haulage business. Her mother was the daughter of a farmer.
My natural father was a business representative and, at the time, he was in his twenties when he was in a relationship with my natural mother. At the time of my adoption, they were no longer in a relationship.
